Who Cares What We Wear: Forget About Fashion

This blog sprouted from my interest in style. Not necessarily fashion, which I find a distasteful embodiment of consumerism and an ecological disaster. Rather, I enjoy exploring ones personal style, and wanted to write about it – How can you express yourself through what you wear? Another point of focus is on how to become more sustainable in shopping both clothes and cosmetics. How to make the best out of your wardrobe, year after year? And what to pay attention to while investing in a good pair of shoes, for example.

I am also a big fan of classy, feminine style – with a brave edge! I love black, red, and stripes, and admire people who do not give a damn about conventional style or fashion rules. Hence the name of the blog.  But even with bold accents, my favourite style is still something very sophisticated. For example, these famous women have an impeccable eye for detail:

1. Cate Blanchett

Often seen in black, white, and red, Cate Blanchett truly knows how to look like a million dollars. She wears perfectly cut suits and dresses, and her hair is always flawless. Cate Blanchett also looked magnificent in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine (2003), not to mention the breath-taking acting.

2. Diane Keaton

Diane Keaton’s style does not age. She seems to dress perfectly for her body every time, and manages to make it look very effortless. Her boyish look is super chic and interesting, and it feels like she could wear anything and still be fabulous.

3. Amy Adams

Amy Adams is gorgeous, like a gemstone – an emerald, perhaps? Or did you ever see her in a colour that made her look anything less than royal? She has that something which makes her look like a 40’s Hollywood star.

In the following months to come, I will be writing a little bit about capsule wardrobes, style icons, and how style does not have anything to do with your age or your size. I also want to talk about what it means to be confident in your own skin, and how sexy has nothing to do with how much skin you reveal.

So stay tuned!

  1. Your blog has a very touchy name. And I think Everyone should ask themselves; who cares what I wear? Really! Since I´m of age (50+), I only care for clothes I feel comfortable in, and I think these women You have mentioned above, really do too! Of course they have stylists, who Shop for them, but still, I have a feedinä they have a say on the subject too. Good luck with Your blog. I´m looking forward to read Your thoughts 👍

  2. Feeling, not feedinä...
